Global Relay Awarded ‘Most Innovative Company’ for 2013
Global Relay Named to BCBusiness Magazine’s List of Most Innovative Companies for its Cloud-Based, Compliant Messaging and Archiving Services
Vancouver, BC – March 28, 3013 — Global Relay, the world leader in message archiving for compliance, was today named one of BC’s Most Innovative Companies for 2013 by BCBusiness Magazine. The accolade recognizes Global Relay’s pioneering and wildly successful work in developing cloud-based technology that allows firms in regulated industries to securely preserve, supervise and access all of their electronic communications.
Global Relay was an early champion of the software-as-a-service model, having provided hosted email archiving since 1999 — long before cloud computing became mainstream. With a laser focus on the financial sector, Global Relay develops all its technology in-house, designing it specifically to assist firms in meeting the message recordkeeping and supervision requirements of regulators such as the SEC, FINRA, FSA, IIROC and legislation such as Sarbanes-Oxley. As new message types such as instant messaging and social media have emerged, Global Relay has designed new methods of automatically capturing and archiving them — enabling financial firms to remaining compliant. Today, Global Relay has offices worldwide and serves 16,000 customers, including 22 of the top 25 global banks.
Global Relay thrives on a culture of innovation and invests heavily in the future of its technology. More than 50% of its staff members are software developers, a rarity in the industry. A large number of these workers are dedicated solely to ground-up research and development of the next generation of Global Relay services, which are intended to completely reshape communications in the financial sector. Global Relay has also made a significant investment in the design, construction and operation of its new 4-megawatt “green” data center, which uses state-of-the-art eco-friendly technologies to dramatically decrease energy consumption.
The Most Innovative Companies awards recognize British Columbia companies that have brought a new product or service to market which has had a profound impact on its sector. This award follows a number of other recent accolades: CEO Warren Roy won 2012 BC CEO of the Year; President & General Counsel Shannon Rogers was presented with the 2013 Influential Women in Business Award; Global Relay was named a Best Company to Work For in BC for the second straight year; and Global Relay earned positions on the 2012 Deloitte Fast 500 and Deloitte Fast 50 lists — annual rankings of the Fastest Growing Technology Companies in North America and Canada.
