Global Relay CEO & Founder Warren Roy honoured with BCTIA’s prestigious Person of the Year Award

Dynamic Entrepreneur’s Leadership and Vision celebrated by British Columbia Technology Industry Association

Vancouver, BC – June 12, 2013 — Warren Roy, CEO and Founder of tech powerhouse Global Relay, was named Person of the Year last Thursday night by the industry’s premier high-tech society British Columbia Technology Industry Association (BCTIA), before an audience of one thousand tech industry workers in the Vancouver Convention Centre ceremony. BCTIA’s Person of the Year Award recognizes an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the technology industry through exceptional leadership, relentless drive and keen business insight.

Global Relay is the market leader in cloud-based archiving, messaging and compliance services for the financial world. Founded fourteen years ago with a vision to design, develop and market world-class technology services, Warren led the company to extraordinary success with deep technological expertise, round-the-clock commitment and an unwavering focus on his customers. Overcoming countless obstacles along the way, Global Relay expanded from a four-person start-up into a profitable, independent company and award-winning employer of more than 260 people. Maintaining its headquarters in Vancouver, Global Relay is a dominant presence in the financial world, with offices in New York, Chicago, London and Singapore, and more than 16,000 clients across 90 countries.

Led by Warren, Global Relay’s impact on the local marketplace has been undeniable. He has masterminded multiple long-term investments in the city, including the design, construction and operation of a fully-owned $20 million eco-friendly data center in North Vancouver. Despite frequent acquisition offers from abroad, Warren has worked tirelessly to build and retain world-class development and business teams based primarily in Vancouver. Just last year the company entered into a five-year commitment as Title Sponsor and Operator of the Global Relay Gastown Grand Prix professional cycling race – an initiative which earned the company the BCTIA’s Community Engagement Award in addition to Mr. Roy’s recognition as Person of the Year.

“Warren provides amazing leadership for our team. Under his guidance, Global Relay has changed the landscape of the compliance technology industry and the financial sector worldwide, while bringing benefits home to Vancouver in the form of high quality technology sector jobs and local infrastructure investment” said Shannon Rogers, President & General Counsel of Global Relay. “What his vision has led Global Relay to accomplish so far is truly stunning, and our plans for the company’s future are even more impressive.”

2013 has been a remarkable year for awards and recognition at Global Relay. In addition to the two honours from the BCTIA, Shannon Rogers, Global Relay President & General Counsel was presented with a 2013 Influential Women in Business Award in recognition of her outstanding leadership and mentoring, and Global Relay was named one of British Columbia’s Most Innovative Companies for 2013 by BCBusiness Magazine. In late 2012, CEO Warren Roy was named BC CEO of the Year by Business In Vancouver magazine. Additionally, Global Relay was ranked 20th on the 2012 Deloitte Technology Fast 50 ranking of Canada’s fastest-growing companies, and BCBusiness has twice named Global Relay as a Best Company To Work For in BC (2012 and 2011).
